Lavender Simple Syrup Recipe

My family and I are big fans of the Great British Bake Off! While watching I learned how easy simple syrups are to make. Just use a 1:1 ratio of water and sugar and you have a versatile simple syrup! Over the years, I have made several variations, but this is definitely my favorite. Check out some of my favorite ways to use it below.
Ingredients:
1 cup of granulated sugar
1 cup of water
2 ½ tablespoons of Solace Culinary Lavender
1 teaspoon of of lemon juice
Directions:
Mix all ingredients in a small saucepan and bring to a boil. Whisk occasionally.
Reduce heat and simmer for 3 minutes (or longer for a stronger flavor).
Let cool and then strain the buds out as you pour the syrup into a jar. Enjoy!
Notes:
The consistency will be thin. If you prefer a thicker syrup, let it simmer longer until it reaches the desired consistency.
I like to leave mine in the fridge to extend the shelf life but it will also be fine on the counter for a few days.
Uses:
Sweeten your coffee or tea with a teaspoon (or more based on your preference).
Use it as a cake soak. Brush it on a lemon loaf or pound cake.
Add it to your favorite cocktail or mocktail (lavender mojitos are a must!).
Make your own lavender lemonade (start with 1 tsp in 1 cup of lemonade, adjust to preference).
Drizzle over vanilla ice cream. Yum!
Wrap a ribbon around the jar and give it as a gift to your best buds!
